Transformers

Dynapower Corporation started to develop our line of transformers over 40 years ago when we first began manufacturing rectifiers. These technologies were all designed and are manufactured at our facility in South Burlington, Vermont. Our transformer products are custom designed to suit your overall system needs, which allows Dynapower to fill a unique niche in the market of having sales, design, manufacturing, and testing capabilities for all of these products in the same location.

All of our transformers are wound using copper conductors and core steel is cut in house. These transformers are designed, manufactured, and tested in accordance with ANSI and IEEE standards, but other standards can also be considered as required by individual customers.

Our open wound dry type transformers are most commonly applied as main components to our rectifier systems. These transformers are encapsulated using a vacuum pressure impregnation process with polyester varnish and can be cooled either by air or water.

Epoxy cast coil transformers are also manufactured at our facility, which casts the windings into a solid mass of epoxy under vacuum using steel molds. This technology offers unparalleled mechanical strength by sealing the coils in an impervious casting of dielectric epoxy resulting in the most reliable and longest lasting transformer technology available. Although this line was originally developed to augment our other dry type transformers in larger rectifier applications, these have also been sold extensively as stand alone products for distribution and specialty applications.

Our liquid immersed product line was developed for larger and higher voltage applications where the benefits of dielectric oil allowed our rectifier systems to grow both in kVA and voltage class. These transformers are designed in specialty tanks for integration with our rectifier systems.

Dynapower Corporation is pleased to offer the ULTRACAST line of cast coil transformers, designed for applications that demand high reliability and continuous performance. Developed in the United States, the ULTRACAST process locks the windings in a very strong, high dielectric, epoxy resin, thus protecting the transformer from extremely severe environments and electrical demands. These units meet rigorous operating parameters, efficiently, safely, and reliably. Cast coil transformers feature a long service life, lower insurance expense, and are virtually maintenance-free, all of which reduce the cost of ownership. These transformers are also environmentally safe, which benefits the end user as many types of liquid-filled, medium voltage equipment have been made obsolete by environmental concerns and increasing insurance costs.
