Dynapower Corporation offers complete and integrated AC to DC power conversion systems incorporating AC Switchgear, ULTRACAST Cast Coil epoxy resin encapsulated transformers, and precision thyristor rectification systems of 6, 12 or 24 pulse design.
Specification
bulletAC Input

Voltage: Up to 34.5 kVolts

Phase: 3 Phase
Frequency: 60 Hz or 50 Hz
bulletDC Output
Current: Up to 100,000 Amperes
Systems up to 20 M Watts
bulletHarmonic Filtering
The rectifier design employs 6, 12 or 24 pulse configurations to address IEEE 519 Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) limitations.  Additional harmonic filtering may be required pending review of the customer’s one-line diagram.
bulletRating
All components are rated as a Standard for 100% continuous full load service in a 40°C ambient.

bulletUltraCast Cast Coil Transformer

The UltraCast Cast Coil transformer is cast in epoxy on a mold under vacuum, for a completely sealed rigid coil structure.  The design provides numerous additional benefits over standard oil filled or VPI transformers, including superior short circuit strength, resilience from adverse environments, virtually zero maintenance and high Basic Impulse Insulation Level (BIL) capabilities.  The UltraCast Cast Coil transformer has the following features:

10-175 kVolts BIL

Impervious to Industrial Contaminants

Non-Flammable

Long Service Life

High Short-Circuit Strength

High Overload Capability

Maintenance Free Operation

Environmentally Safe

Water Cooled Designs Available

Splice-free, electrolytically pure cooper winding material

Core material is low loss, high quality, grain oriented silicon steel cut in a step lap mitered cruciform core to provide a good flux transfer and low eddy current losses

220°C Electrical Insulation

Vacuum Cast in 200°C Epoxy Resin

bulletSemiconductors
Each thyristor is mounted on silver plated deep hole drilled copper heat sinks and cooled from both sides to efficiently remove the heat generated in the devices.  By operating the thyristors at a conservative level, relative to the rating of the device and by removing the heat generated in an efficient manner, the junction temperature of the device may be maintained to a conservative level ensuring long-term reliability.  N-1 semi-conductor redundancy is available.

bulletCabinet
The cabinet is heavy-duty industrial steel mill type design providing added protection from the mill environment.  Heavy welded angle iron base, combined with pre-formed structural members, provide sturdy construction and attractive appearance.  Acid resistant paint over a primer is used on all structures and panels, and all bolted panels are removable for component inspection.
